Women Can Overcome Violence

The epidemic of violence against women has created problems that the legal system has still not found answers for.

Any experienced trial attorney will have seen dozens of women show up in his or her office with bruises on their arms, legs, face and chest. The stories can be heartbreaking.

But that doesn't have to be the end of the story. At the Law Office of Daniel Wright we have seen women successfully break the cycle of violence and move on to unparalleled achievements.

One mother came seeking a protective order a few years ago to end a controlling, violent relationship. She succeeded in getting the protective order, but was forced into a shelter for battered women. At that time, she had no identity papers, no bank account, no immigration status, and no job.

With some help from pro bono lawyers, the Tahirih Justice Center, and others she managed to gain her Green Card, establish a bank account, find a job, get a driver's license, and secure an apartment. She then renewed her education and finished her bachelor's degree. She is now in her second year of law school.
